MDCID welcomes support in many forms. If you are interested in

Meet with Your Legislator!
Help Us, Help You - Volunteer to Meet with Your Legislator!
MDCID
is spreading the word about who we are and what we do. Our key
audiences are the legislators in the Maryland General Assembly. With
your help we are initiating an outreach program designed to connect
interior designers with legislators from their District. To do that
effectively and to get the legislators to listen, we need volunteers to
meet and talk about the profession with them. Remember, each one of us
is a voter, and legislators want to listen to their voters!
Some Quick Facts:
- Recently elected or re-elected, the legislators are ready to listen!
- Meeting with them can be one on one, or a group of designers can meet with the legislator for their area.
- It can be informal - you can meet at a coffee shop for a cup
of coffee, a local neighborhood spot, your home, or your office!
Meeting at your office and explaining our work could be very effective.
- MDCID will give you a list of talking points detailing our profession and our goals.
- MDCID will provide the contact information for the legislator(s) in your area, by home zip code.
- We are looking for volunteers living in all zip codes and areas but are
especially looking for volunteers in the following areas: Anne Arundel
County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Calvert County, Charles
County, Frederick County, Harford County, Montgomery County, Prince
George's County, St. Mary's County, and Washington County
The Hard Facts:
- If we, as a profession, want to ensure our
current statutory and regulatory authority remains intact and that our
profession qualifications are recognized by the state and local
government then WE NEED to meet with our legislators.
- The more people who can volunteer to do this, the stronger our voice will be!
- We want to make sure the legislators have the correct information about
interior designers, about our qualifications, and ultimately become
supporters for the profession.
Contact Carmella Rayner Hart, Chair MDCID, carmellarayner@gmail.com, or Elizabeth Kelly, mdcidinfo@gmail.com
to volunteer! (Please include your name and your home address and
zip code, so we can match you with the proper legislator.) We look forward
to hearing from you!
Thank you,
The MDCID Board
Improve your Credentials - Become a Certified Interior Designer!
The MDCID Board would like to encourage qualified interior
designers across the state to Get Certified! We are looking ahead to
our sunset and want to prove that we value our right to be certified.
This is your chance to show the public you are a qualified professional,
to show other professionals you are trained, and to show our
legislators that YOU are a voice to be heard. Help us increase the
awareness of our profession - become Certified NOW!
If you are already Certified, partner with someone who isn't and
help them Get Certified! Now is a great time to become Certified with
the state - it is good for marketing, good for business, and good for
our legislative goals. In essence it is good for the entire profession!
If you have already passed the NCIDQ, then you are well on your way -
just follow the directions below to get your application started!
The steps are easy and the reward is great! Get Certified! Once
you are Certified, please post on MDCID's LinkedIn or Facebook pages, letting us know your name and certification #. Everyone who
participates in our Get Certified! program between November 2010 and
December 2011 will be entered into a prize drawing! We will be
selecting two names at random for prizes at the end of January 2012. Let's make our profession STAND OUT!
